#CS1 Gardeners Pocket

NEW FOR 2008!  Cross stitch pattern for an early style pocket.  In early colonial times before clothing had pockets, a pocket was tied around a woman's waist under her skirt.  She would carry her sewing supplies, seeds she had gathered or perhaps a few coins.  The pockets were concealed under her clothing but were adorned with beautiful embroidery.  This little 3 3/4" x 4" pocket is reminiscent of the early pockets.  The design is worked on 22 count linen with DMC embroidery floss.  Old buttons & key add extra charm.  The pocket is filled with dried Sweet Annie.  The pieces backing and strap are stitched from brown civil war reproduction fabric.
